Summer Water Conservation Policy:   Lake Barrington Shores has established a water conservation policy by restricting outside water use to odd and even calendar days corresponding to the last number of your unit’s address from May 1, 2010 to September 30, 2010. The restriction should not apply to the essential watering of any new plantings (i.e. newly planted trees, shrubs, perennials) throughout the community.

 

SUMMER MOSQUITO CONTROL NOTICE:  Clarke Mosquito has resumed evening truck-mounted spraying.  If you have to be notified in advance you may be placed on a call list.  Please call 1-800-942-2555.  Do Not call the LBS Office for this!

 

The Master Board Meeting will be aired on the Community Channel monthly on these days and times of the week following the Master Board Meeting:  Tuesday-Friday at 6:00 P.M. and Saturday & Sunday at 2:30 P.M.

 

 

 

Living Green Tip:

What to do with old electronics?  Good news for LBS residents!  The village of Wauconda Public Works facility on Sloane Street will accept

a variety of electronic gizmos for recycling.  The only requirement is that the donor be a resident of Lake County!  For drop off hours and items accepted, check out:    www.villageofwauconda.com/refuse_recycling.aspx or call 847 526-9610.

 

 

Community Affairs:  It is reported that the Lake County Clerk has printed forms for voters to enroll in a program for “permanent voting by mail”.  This program will allow the clerk to send a ballot to one’s home for each election (primary and/or general) and local elections, as well.  Interested parties can find information at:    VotingByMail.info

 

Community Affairs & Neighbor Helping Neighbor Care About your Well Being.  Here’s how the program works:  You call in to say you are okay.

Fall Turf Treatment, August 23 to September 10, weather permitting. Crews will spray weeds and fertilize turf all condos.  Even addresses will be treated first.  Questions?

Veteran’s Memorial Brick Project:

Memorial bricks for the Veteran’s Memorial Garden are now available.  Order forms and instructions may be picked up at the Management Office at the Rec Center.

Safety Knowledge for All!  Tomm Smithe, Jr., Public Education Co-ordinator at the Wauconda Fire district will be giving a talk. Come to the LBS Ladies Club, Monday, Sept. 13th in the ULL at 10:30 A.M.  Also, information on CPR & first aid classes.

                                  UPCOMING LBS DAY TRIPS:

 

 

Our Annual Evening with the Beach Boys at Ravinia, Wednesday, September 1st, bus departs LBS at 3:45 P.M.  Ravinia gates open at 5:00 P.M., Concert starts at 8:00 P.M.  These tickets are LAWN SEATS.  Come and enjoy a night under the stars with your own picnic.   Cost:  $45.00/per person.  Seats are lawn seats so be sure to remember to bring your chair, picnic basket, etc.

Starved Rock Wine Tasting Event, Saturday, September 19th.  Bus departs at 9:00 A.M.  Wine tasting starts at 11:00 A.M.  Cost: TBA-sign up to be placed on the interested list at the LBS Office.  A commemorative “Vintage Illinois at Starved Rock wine glass, and 5 tasting tickets are included.  Additional tasting tickets can be purchased within the festival for a $1.00 each.

 

 

Disney’s The Lion King at the Cadillac Palace Theater, Chicago, Wednesday, October 6th.  Bus departs LBS at 11:00 A.M. and show begins at 2:00 P.M.  Cost is $86.00/per person.  Please contact Jamie at the LBS Office to make your reservation.

Control Arthritis pain with gentle exercises.  Approved by the Arthritis Foundation.  Classes start June 2nd and meet twice per week-Tuesday and Friday, 10:45 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. in the Ballroom at the Rec Center.  Cost is $4.00/per session.  Questions? Call Patricia Olsson-Prescott at 847 842-1179.  Starting Friday, September 25th and continuing once a month following the Friday Arthritis Class at noon in the ULL, a speaker will offer a free program on varying topics of wellness.  Bring your own lunch and enjoy an hour of timely topics of getting and staying well.  Beverages will be provided.

 

 

Highrollers Bowling League:  Thinking about bowling?  Why not? Shoresmen Golf:   On every Wednesday of the month and weather permitting, Shoresmen will “tee off” with their pre-season golf-play begins at 8:00 A.M. and pre-registration is not required.  To get your name on a list to play on a Wednesday, or to cancel a reservation, call the Golf Club Pro Shop at 382-6650 by no later than Monday at 5:00 P.M.
