Outside Activities Near the Rec Center

Outdoor Activities around the Recreation Center

The Rec Center is the hub of the outdoor activities at LBS.
The outdoor pool is open during the summer for exercise classes, swimming laps and fun with the kids.  Beyond the left edge of the picture, there is a kiddy pool.  Parents must be with the children in the kiddy pool.

Paddle ball Courts

Tennis anyone? Or Platform tennis? Both sports are abundantly provided for.  There are 10 tennis courts and 3 Platform tennis (paddleball) courts across the street from the rec center. Some residents choose to join one of the many clubs to participate in these sports. Others simply find a friend and take advanatge of these well-cared for places. One on one, or form a group.

In front of the platform tennis courts, the basketball hoops await the slapping sounds of a bouncing ball and the sparring whoops of friendly opponents.

The Club House at the 18 hole golf course at the Lake Barrington Shores Country Club offers a Pro shop, a restaurant and plenty of space to follow those little white balls.

Children are not forgotten either. Kids or grandkids, residents or visitors, all are welcome to stretch those muscles and have some fun on the groomed grounds of the LBS Playground.

A walking/hiking path goes around the lake. The views are spectacular at any time of the year, affording a glorious way in which to get some fresh air and exercise. At the north end of the lake is a 33-acre Forest Preserve. The many animals that call this sanctuary home may not be seen often, but the plant life is very visible and abundant.

Located at the south end of the Lake, the Marina is the hub of Lake activities.  There are canoes, rowboats, paddleboats and sailboats available for resident use.  A pontoon boat is available for free rides on weekend afternoons from noon till 3 and is available for private parties till 6 as well.  A swimming beach, picnic tables and barbeque area is available on the north side of the Marina.
